A group of dedicated Pars fans have established a Supporters Trust for DAFC. Essentially, a supporters trust is all about giving the genuine fan a real voice that is listened to by the club. Over 90 trusts have already been established at clubs throughout the UK with approximately 20 of these here in Scotland.

Pars Supporters Trust has a number of links into various parts of DAFC:-

Ad hoc Board meetings – We enjoy a strong, positive relationship with the DAFC Board and meet regularly to discuss Trust initiatives and club requirements.

DAFC AGM – Members of the Pars Supporters Trust represent the Trust as a shareholder in the club at the annual general meeting posing both financial and non financial questions. The Trust is now the 12th largest shareholder in DAFC and has invested Ł8,000 in shares in its four years of existence.

United Pars – Members of the Pars Supporters Trust are involved in United Pars which is a consolidated body of Pars supporters which meets with the club on a regular basis. United Pars is involved in influencing many decisions which impact Pars fans – season ticket pricing, considering alternatives for club strips, stewarding issues, transportation and ground improvements.

Open Day – The Pars Supporters Trust continues to be involved in the DAFC Open Day assisting the club to run activities on the day. We also operate a stall which advertises our activities and sells magnets, key rings etc to increase Trust funds

Many trusts have been created as a result of the football club running into financial difficulties with Dee4Life the clear example here in Scotland.

But there are outside factors and influences that can harm our club as we have witnessed, for example, in the past year or so with the reduced level of TV income just one example.

So why do we need a supporters trust at the Pars? Firstly, it is a way of bringing the fans closer to the club and giving the fans a voice that the Board of Directors will respect and listen to. It is also a way of getting the club to be more aware of the local footballing community in this area. The trust will also acquire shares in the club to ensure it has influence and will allow the fans to participate in a democratic process.

Above all, the supporters trust would aim to make coming to East End Park on match days an “occasion” and to make it a real fun day out. Whatever the match result!

Your feedback and interest is important. If you have any comments or would like to become involved with the trust please contact us by e-mail at parstrust@yahoo.co.uk

"Supporters Trust...a new form of supporter organisation that is suitable for the task of gaining ownership, representation and influence in the club. The idea of a trust is that it is democratic, accountable, and inclusive method of organising supporters for the purposes of playing a more active role in the management of the club."
